Ribs and a run

So yesterday (Sunday) we had no plans (VERY rare) and kept it that way!!! We started the day with a movie

I had never seen Freedom Writers, but I am told on a fairly regular basis that I look like Hilary Swank, and more specifically, like her in this movie. I had recorded it a couple of weeks ago and decided to watch it. Thank goodness for the commercials that I had to fast forward through, as they gave me a break. I was a sniveling, crying mess from 10 minutes in until the end of the movie! I love inspirational movies, especially when they are based on something in real life, like this one. I really identified with this character, too. Needless to say, I need more tissues in the house now. Can’t recommend that movie enough.

Erm put ribs in the smoker in the morning, and we had gotten corn at a farm stand the day before, and I roasted some brussel sprouts. Have I mentioned how much I love brussel sprouts? They are delicious AND have lots of vitamins and minerals!

I had never tried them until a couple of months ago, and I love them! I quarter them, then toss them in oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper. I throw them in the oven at 425 for about 15 mins, or until they are bright green and a little soft, and take them out and hit them with some lemon juice. SO EASY. And delicious. And if you like burnt stuff like me… the outer leaves fall off and get crispy and are delicious to eat right away 😉

So lunch was ribs, corn, and sprouts (vegetarians… shield your eyes)

The ribs really were the star of this meal

After I digested, I went out for a run! I ran 3.34 miles in 32:27… a 9:43 pace! Not too shabby! I’m hoping that I will PR tomorrow night with the runs I’ve been putting in.

The weirdest thing happened after my run. I came inside and put my yoga mat out to stretch, stretched, and laid down on my mat and stayed there for awhile. I really felt like there was no possible way I could move my limbs, much less get up and do anything. So I laid there. I’m not sure if that’s the best thing to do, but I really wasn’t about to fight myself on it. I literally felt like my legs and arms weighed 100 pounds and were dead weight. Does that ever happen to you?

  1. I want to see that movie! And now that you mention it, you do look quite a bit like Hilary Swank – you’re both gorgeous! 🙂
